AEMED: A Mediterranean Network for Agroecological Transition and Agroecology Governance

AEMED is the Mediterranean Agroecology Network which, on a biennial basis, promotes a Congress dedicated to assessing the agroecological transition through dialogue between Science, Movement, and Practice. The initiative was created to establish a space for meeting and exchange among farmers, researchers, institutions, and organizations active in the agroecological sector from across the entire Mediterranean basin. The project fosters dialogue between scientific research, field practices, and territorial movements, with the aim of supporting more sustainable, resilient, and environmentally harmonious agricultural models, as well as promoting and monitoring the implementation of agroecological policies in the countries of the Mediterranean basin, the transfer of agroecological techniques, and the strengthening of dialogue among movements. AEMED also represents a concrete opportunity to share experiences, enhance the agricultural and cultural heritage of the Mediterranean, contribute to the development of scientific, technical, and policy guidelines for the future of agroecology, and promote and monitor the implementation of local, regional, national, and international regulations in the field of agroecology. It is a context in which traditional knowledge and innovation can meet, generating new collaborations and shared visions. Through conferences, working groups, and exchange sessions, AEMED strengthens a Mediterranean network committed to the transformation of agri-food systems.
