AEMED Network and the Building of an Open, Multidisciplinary Knowledge Community
One of the most significant aspects of the AEMED Network is its ability to foster a Mediterranean agroecology community built on collaboration, dialogue, and knowledge sharing.
The experience of AEMED 2025 highlighted the importance of creating permanent spaces for exchange among research, agriculture, institutions, and civil society, recognizing agroecology as an approach capable of integrating environmental, social, economic, and cultural dimensions.
From this perspective, the AEMED Network serves as an open and multidisciplinary platform that facilitates interaction among diverse skills, experiences, and territorial realities, promoting the co-production of knowledge and the development of shared pathways for the agroecological transition.
The importance of this process has also been recognized by the FAO, which highlighted the establishment of the Mediterranean Agroecology Community as one of the main outcomes of AEMED 2025, emphasizing its role in strengthening cooperation networks, participatory research, and alliances among science, public policies, and civil society.
The AEMED Network therefore represents a dynamic space for learning and cooperation, capable of connecting local experiences and international perspectives to address the challenges of sustainability in Mediterranean agri-food systems.
