AEMED Network Opens a New Phase of International Dialogue on Agroecology
AEMED Network continues its path of consolidation as an international platform for exchange dedicated to agroecology, scientific cooperation, and the development of integrated networks linking territories, institutions, and research communities.
Within this framework, the Network is part of a broader reflection on the role of the Mediterranean as a central geographical and cultural space for the formulation of a new vision of growth and well-being, grounded in sustainability, balance, and cohesion among productive systems, natural environments, and social dynamics.
In this perspective, agroecology establishes itself not only as a scientific and operational field, but also as a strategic vector of a renewed vision of shared knowledge, capable of promoting the circulation of expertise, practices, and innovations among diverse communities, strengthening the dialogue between academic knowledge and local know-how. It also represents a paradigm able to guide the transformation of food systems towards sustainability, inclusiveness, and territorial rootedness.
In recent years, the debate on food systems, biodiversity protection, and territorial resilience has progressively gained strategic relevance, highlighting the need for integrated approaches capable of combining multidisciplinary expertise and complementary perspectives.
Within this context, the AEMED Network acts as a place of interconnection between academic experiences, territorial practices, and shared project pathways, fostering structured exchange among actors who, while operating in different fields, converge towards the common goal of promoting more equitable, sustainable development models attentive to the relationships between environment, communities, and agricultural systems.
The Network’s new path strengthens the international dimension of dialogue, valuing contributions from different geographical contexts and promoting a systemic reading of contemporary challenges. In this vision, agroecology—understood as a common language and an infrastructure for cooperation between territories, responsible innovation, local system governance, and Mediterranean cooperation—emerges as a strategic axis of a shared perspective aimed at building widespread well-being models and sustainable development in the Mediterranean.
